We're very good friends." 2 MARC HOM for EW Balfe says she and Heughan share similar personalities. "We like to work hard and we have quite a silly side to our personalities. We like to goof around." 3 MARC HOM for EW Heughan admits that, at first, he was terrified at the thought of wearing 18th century French attire. "I have seen a lot of bad costume dramas and was horrified in thinking that my abilities with fancy collars and cuffs would be very camp. What we've got here is just is wonderful." 4 MARC HOM for EW "Sam is one of the most generous people you'd ever meet," Balfe says of Heughan. "Such a great guy, no ego involved." 5 MARC HOM for EW The sex scenes between Claire and Jamie are an "important part of the story," says Balfe. "They don't feel gratuitous." 6 MARC HOM for EW Of season 2, Heughan says, "Something quite big happens and Jamie regains control over his life and destiny. He also comes to terms of what happened to him [with Black Jack Randall]." 7 Starz "My character and I went through a similar journey," admits Balfe. "I loved the novelty and excitement of wearing these works of art. But the initial excitement wore off after having to wear it all day. The practicality of going to the bathroom, eating ... I had to take it all off. I'd much rather appreciate them from afar." 8 Starz Heughan said he felt a responsibility to read Diana Gabaldon's books before embarking on Outlander. "It's a gift for an actor to have that sort of source material." 9 Starz "Of any work I've done, the fan support is on a whole other level," says Tobias Menzies, who plays Black Jack Randall/Frank Randall. "That's an extraordinarily kind of warm bath to sit in." 10 Starz "Season 2 is much more complex," explains executive producer Ronald D. Moore. "It's a whole new cast of characters. You're dealing with politics, the secretive rebellion. Bonnie Prince Charlie. And Claire and Jamie are a married couple with a baby on the way. So, everything's very different." 11 MARC HOM for EW To continue reading more on Outlander, buy the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, or pick it up on newsstands Friday—and subscribe now for all the exclusive interviews and photos, only in EW.
